🔧 What is the BMW B57D30B Engine

The B57D30B is one of the new B57 inline-six diesels from BMW, introduced in 2015 as a replacement for the much-commended N57 series. The B57 series is modular and derived from BMW’s modular efficient engine architecture and used in the majority of their diesels.

Specifically, the B57D30B is a turbocharged inline-6 3.0L diesel motor with high torque, reasonable fuel efficiency, and compliance with very strict emission regulations like Euro 6. It was designed to be a highly versatile engine, finding its way into sedans, SUVs, and even flagship luxury runners.

Compared to earlier generations, the B57D30B provides improved performance, cleaner combustion, and reduced emissions—all in addition to being easier to maintain compared to twin- or quad-turbo units.
